Earthdance 2008 line up look schweet

I was approached by Regan a couple of weeks back to build the Earthdance Cape Town website …. I jumped at the chance to be involved in one of my favourite parties of the year and its for charity. Its been super to be involved with such amazing people who are so committed to such an amazing cause! The music acts and line up are always confirmed just before the event, this year was no exception. Go to the Earthdance CT website and check out the line ups for the various stages if you are interested. Can’t wait for the party!

New glasses for my rodgered eyes

Yesterday fetch my new glasses from Century Eyes Optometrist situated in Camps Bay. I always enjoy personal service and I can guarantee that these guys provide exactly that. I left feeling like a happy customer looking at the world with new eyes. I have been wearing glasses for 3 years so I am still technically new to the idea. When I went in to have my eyes tested one of the optometrists Cobus Prinsloo explained everything he was doing so that I understood what the problem is with my eyes and how the glasses rectify the vision. Very interesting and definitely helped me understand my vision better.

Sowing the Seeds was a rocking party

sowing-the-seeds.jpgI woke up early (7am) on Sunday with one thing on my mind and that was to make good progress on my business plan. I was going to miss the whole event, but at about 1pm I decided that sufficient progress had been made on the business plan for me to take the afternoon off and head over to Sowing the Seeds!

Sowing the Seeds was a laid back, warm up party for the Rocking the Daisies. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed this “chilled” Sunday afternoon/evening with great bands, DJs, food and more than a couple of drinks. We are all excited about Rocking the Daisies taking place once again on Cloof Wine Estate in Darling from 3 – 5 October.

7th Son got the crowd rocking their socks off and then Bed on Bricks took things further! Take a look at a picture of the tent to the right. As the sunsowing-the-seeds-bed-on-bricks.jpg started setting it cast a shadow on the tent creating an interesting (or should I say trippy?) effect.

After we left the party, I headed to a German restaurant in Hout Bay and munched on my first Eisbein! Wowwweeee, what a meal! Wish I could remember the name of the place we ate at…. Oh well, back to reality and now its time to focus on the week ahead!

Entered in Montrail Cape Winter Trail Series

My buddy Craig Bruton from Refresh told me about this awesome and exciting trail running series called the Montrail Cape Winter Trail Series.

This ‘Trail Series’ consists of a number of trail races put together into a point scoring series…. doubt that I am going to be scoring to many points…. Individual trail races will be held one week apart for the duration of August. Each trail race will consist of a short to medium length (9-12km) trail route on a mixture of terrain from jeep track to single track. Each race is held at a different venue offering you the chance to run in a number of stunning locations.

There was a Cape Summer series earlier in the year but I missed out on that, but I am not gonna miss out on the Cape Winter Series in August. This time round I will get to experience the thrill of running in some mad nature while testing racing against other competitiors. Here are the dates and venues:

  • 3 August’08 (Sun) – Race #1 – Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve, Paarl – 12.5km
  • 9 August’08 (Sat) – Race #2 – Bottelary Hills – 10km
  • 16 August’08 (Sat) – Race #3 – Kogelberg Nature Reserve, Kleinmond (Gravity Festival 10km) – 10.9km
  • 20 August’08 (Wed) – Race #4 – Constantia Greenbelts, Constantia – 10km

I can’t wait for this to start, its gonna be amazing!
